Scaling Cloud Solutions Across Multiple Teams

Approaches for Ensuring Security, Efficiency, and Reliability

The Well-Architected Framework (WAF) is a set of best practices for building and maintaining cloud systems that are highly reliable, secure, efficient, and cost-effective. Developed by Amazon Web Services, the framework assists teams in evaluating their cloud infrastructures regularly, promoting the implementation of scalable designs for sustainable cloud systems that meet the unique needs of specific organisations.

Cloud systems are instrumental in the shift towards a software-driven automotive industry.

Redirecting resources from data centres to the cloud also involves a structured approach to building well-planned workloads to scale. Like in Automotive Production, keeping a quality standard across the different areas of a city is essential to growing sustainably.

The Well-Architected Framework helps maintain a proven model for individual workloads in the cloud, enhancing the efficiency of software teams.

THE SIX PILLARS OF THE

Well-Architected Framework

The framework consists of six pillars, each with the function of adding an extra layer of security and reliability to existing cloud systems, while reducing costs, increasing sustainability and boosting the overall system performance and efficiency.

START TODAY

Operational Excellence
Concentrates on managing systems, improving processes, and setting operational standards. Key areas include automating changes and responding to events.

icons-security-green

Security
Is designed to safeguard information and systems, prioritising the preservation of data confidentiality, integrity, user permissions, and security controls.

Reliability
Serves to ensure that the intended functions of workloads are fulfilled and the rapid recovery from failures to meet demands. This includes the design of distributed systems, detailed planning for recovery, and adapting to changing requirements.

icons-performance-green

Performance Efficiency
Prioritises efficient IT resource allocation in accordance with workload, monitoring performance and maintaining efficiency in changing environments.

icons-cost-optimisation-green

Cost Optimisation
Aims to minimise unnecessary costs by understanding spending patterns, controlling fund allocation, selecting appropriate resources, and scaling operations efficiently to meet business needs.

icons-sustainable-green

Sustainability
Focuses on reducing the environmental impact of cloud workloads, including a shared responsibility model for sustainability, impact assessment, and maximising resource utilisation to minimise downstream effects.

"With DEMICON, we have been able to migrate and consolidate various fragmented processes and documents into a digital platform that offers a full overview, is transparent, easy to manage and delegate, and, importantly, future-proof."

The DEMICON Well-Architected Framework Review.

We provide a workshop that aims to give you a comprehensive understanding of your existing infrastructure, identify areas of concern that require urgent attention, and outline the parameters / scope of the Well-Architected Review process. We ensure a seamless collaboration by establishing roles and responsibilities between DEMICON and your stakeholders.

The Well-Architected Review is a thorough process designed for all organisations. We will collaborate to narrow down the scope to reflect your ongoing requirements & implementation path, as well as any current or recurring problems.

Step 1: Preparation

Remote discovery call, introductions and understanding of expectations. We Identify Current Issues and give an overview of the main concerns and priorities.

Step 2: Define Participants

Identify stakeholders and potential blockers for the workload reviews.

Step 3: WA Review - Assess Workload

We evaluate AWS implementation based on the 6 WA Pillars and highlight areas of focus to improve efficiency and performance.

Step 4: Outline Remediation

We prioritise and outline actions required for enhancing your cloud infrastructure.

Step 5: Create WA Report

We generate a comprehensive report based on the workload review and highlight actions to address the identified issues.

Step 6: WA Report & Review Session

We engage in a discussion to ensure the customer's understanding and prioritize and plan remediation strategies as required.
