The focus of this project was the development of an individually tailored Jira Custom App for a global automotive manufacturer. The aim was to transfer the previously distributed tools and evolved planning processes into a standardized, central platform - fully integrated into the existing Jira environment.
The new solution should not only map feature planning, maturity assessment, schedule and rollout control, but also be usable across projects, user-friendly and ASPICE®-compliant. The consistent cross-domain orientation - for example for control units, electrification, battery systems or powertrain - resulted in a tool that aggregates planning data at team, department and organizational level and thus addresses both operational and strategic control requirements.
The app was designed to also serve as a scalable platform in the long term - with modular architecture, multi-client capability, role-based access models and an open API for future integrations.
One of the key challenges was to consolidate isolated tools and data sources - a decisive step towards greater transparency, consistency and efficiency. At the same time, existing processes were not only to be mapped digitally, but also developed further and raised to a new level of quality.
In addition, there were high requirements for ASPICE® conformity, usability and scalability: the solution had to map complex content such as maturity level tracking, rollout baselines and a complete planning history - while remaining intuitive to use. In addition, a flexible framework was required that would provide standardized structures but could still be individually adapted to specialist departments and projects.
„This project showcases what can be achieved when subject matter expertise, methodological rigour and a bold drive for innovation come together. With this custom app, we have unlocked capabilities far beyond Jira’s native planning features, creating genuine added value for the organisation. Today, the app is a central pillar of ASPICE®-compliant release planning – transparent, intuitive, scalable and precisely tailored to our client’s needs.“
